Unless you are already super organized, I would have to argue that everyone needs a mail basket. Before I created mine my mail would be put in messy piles on the kitchen counter, on my desk, or left in my vehicle.
Ahhh heck who am I kidding there were more piles than that! Don’t judge me!
Then one day I was looking through some DIY projects from some pretty awesome and creative bloggers when I came across these numbered baskets.
I thought to myself, “Self, that would be perfect to put under my communication board.”
Then my next thought was, “Self, I wonder if they have any of those cute wicker baskets at the Dollar Store.”
So, the next time I visited the Dollar Store guess what I went on the hunt for? Yep, you guessed it.
And this is what I found! I had stars in my eyes!

Basket from the Dollar Store
With my mail basket in hand I made my way to the craft section to find me some stencils. They have a few different kinds but I chose the Script style.

I already had the paint and brushes at home. Here is the paint I used.
Paint from “I Have No Idea”
All I did was tape the stencils to the basket and painted them. I did have to hold the stencils down tight onto the basket so it wouldn’t stray to far outside the lines of the letters.
But considering this was my very first project of this sort I was pretty happy with the results and now I have me a pretty farmhouse mail basket to throw all my mail into.
Finished Mail Basket
Do you know the best part?
It seems that since I have a “home” for my mail I purposely take all my mail to that basket and give it a toss.
